Quality/Certifications

ISO9001:2015

The ISO:9001:2015 standard is an internationally recognized management system standard developed by the International Organization for Standards. It was established for all companies and organizations, and is recognized worldwide. Compliance with this standard indicates that a company has met the stringent audit requirements of a third-party ISO authorized registrar. These ISO audits are continuous and ongoing to maintain ISO certification and registration. ISO9001:2015 registration has become almost a prerequisite for doing business in many industries throughout the world. Discriminating buyers are mandating ISO certification for suppliers and service providers whenever possible.

ISO Certification results in improved productivity and efficiency (and the concomitant cost reductions that accompany them); higher levels of customer satisfaction, due to greater consistency of products and services; improved employee job satisfaction; and a framework for continuous quality control improvement.

ISO9001 Certification

AS9100:2016

PEI has been awarded certification under AS9100:2016, quality standards established by the aircraft and aerospace industry. These high global quality standards were published by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) in cooperation with the AAQG and with input from ANAB and IAAR (the Independent Association of Accredited Registrars). PEI can now be found on OASIS – the On-line Aerospace Supplier Information System – and is subject to continual audits by the NQA, with the results of these audits reported on OASIS.

Achieving the quality levels recognized by this award, applicable to “photochemical machining and assembly of precision and decorative metal parts,” puts PEI in the forefront of companies providing photochemically-etched metal parts and components to the aircraft and aerospace industries. The AS9100:2016 registration certifies that Photofabrication Engineering has achieved superior, consistent product quality, and demands a tighter quality control system and a more consistent flow of quality from PEI and its vendors against the provisions of ISO9001:2015 and AS9100:2016, and in accordance with the requirements of AS9104A.  The initial, very detailed audit was performed by National Quality Assurance, USA with zero nonconformances found in PEI’s metal certifications, plating operations, or general operation. There are continuing internal and external audits.

The demanding quality control regimens and systems evidenced by PEI’s receiving this certification bring PEI closer to future goals of certifications such as ISO/TS16949 (Automotive Standard) and ISO 13485 (Medical Standard).

AS9100 Certification

ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)

PEI has been granted certification under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, allowing it to provide weapon systems components and accessories in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations implemented by the Department of State.

Quality Standards Used by PEI:

MIL-STD-45662

This standard provides requirements for the establishment and maintenance of a calibration system to control the accuracy of measuring and test equipment and measurement standards used to assure that supplies and services delivered to the government comply with prescribed technical requirements. PEI’s manufacturing and test equipment are in compliance with this standard.

MIL-STD-105

This statistical sampling standard, now MIL-STD-1916, “Department of Defense Preferred Methods for Acceptance of Product,” provides procedures and tables for sampling by attributes based on Acceptable Quality Levels, (AQL) by size of production lot.

ANSI/ASQC Z1.4

This standard provides sampling procedures and tables for inspection by attributes based on Acceptable Quality Levels (AQL) by production lot size.

PEI’s sampling procedures allow for individual customers’ specifications, as well as the requirements under the sampling standards. We have complete first-piece inspection report capability, and submit to annual or bi-annual quality systems and calibration auditing by our customers

PEI is proud to be in the 99th percentile in internal and external quality report ratings, as well as on-time deliveries.

Don’t just take our word for it: PEI has met or exceeded the requirements for certification under a broad range of internationally-recognized quality control and testing standards. We audit not only our own processes, equipment, and delivery statistics, but those of our suppliers as well.

We have first article inspection procedures in place, as well as PPAP (Pre- and Post-Production Approval Process) documentation for high-volume customers, all in compliance with our AS9100 certification. Plating for precision and microelectronic applications will meet NADCAP certification requirements when required.

PEI’s high-quality and outstanding delivery times have made us leaders in providing etched metal products to companies that require high-reliability products in significant production quantities – including semiconductor, telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, and medical industries. From developing pre-production process control plans through statistical FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) testing to stringent process capability analysis (Cpk), PEI ensures that every customer receives high-quality parts order after order.

Since every large manufacturing job requires continuous fine-tuning of equipment and chemistries, PEI has instituted regular preventive maintenance programs and analysis of both equipment and personnel to maximize the reliability and consistency of our manufacturing process.

PEI has the in-house capability to verify plating thickness through state-of-the-art, non-destructive technology. A sophisticated optical gauging system with 18 in. x 24. in. x 8 in. (45.72 cm x 60.96 cm x 20.32 cm) capacity gives PEI the ability to make more detailed measurements for statistical quality control analysis at the highest accuracy available today.
